virus
Pandemic poetry by everyday people
A place to create, write, grieve, express, laugh, and share during COVID-19.
There was a virus called COVID-19
Inspiring us all to be oh so quite clean
To make bread of banana
Send masks to Louisiana
And to write poetry from quarantine.

Again
We’re having beans and rice for dinner, again?
Another weekend spent inside.
Should I wear pants instead of jeans, again?
More mindless television watching.
Don’t tell me you want to play Scrabble, again?
Yet another mediocre book finished.
Should we take the dog on a long walk, again?
Over and over, again and again.
But, people are connecting again.
Should we have another virtual happy hour?
People are cooking from scratch again.
Do we need to add more flour to the shopping list?
The planet is on the mend again.
When was the last time you drove your car?
Our teachers, nurses, retail workers are appreciated again.
Have we donated to the local frontline worker charity yet?
We unite and support, again and again.
We will congregate again.
Want to come over for a board game night?
We will explore again.
Let’s go visit the state park this weekend, yeah?
We will eat out again.
What is a local restaurant we can support tonight?
We will hug family again.
Should we pay grandma an extra visit this week?
We will begin again.
